About

The 1998 compilation «Noah's Ark» is a curious release that combines older Kitaro tracks, his new arrangements, and even unique collaborations.

Here is information about the tracks on this collection:

  • Suite «Noah's Ark» Part 1 and Suite «Noah's Ark» Part 2
These are new compositions (suites) created especially for this collection, which significantly expand on the original theme «Noah's Ark» from the 1983 album «Silver Cloud». They are long, ambient medleys and have not previously appeared on any other studio album.

  • Caravansary - Single Mix
The track «Caravansary» first appeared on Kitaro's international debut and one of his most famous albums, «Silk Road, Volume 4» (1983).
This is the "Single Mix," which is likely slightly shorter or has slight mixing differences compared to the original version from «Silk Road, Volume 4».

  • Jiu Gan Tang Mai Wu
The track «Jiu Gan Tang Mai Wu» has an interesting history and is a cover or arrangement of a well-known Chinese song.
Original Song: «Jiu Gan Tang Mai Wu» (which roughly translates as "If you have empty wine bottles, would you trade them?") is the title track from the soundtrack to the 1983 Taiwanese film «The Commuter» (搭错车 / Da Cuo Che, English: Papa, Can You Hear Me Sing?).
The original vocal version was performed by Taiwanese singer Su Rui (Julie Sue).

  • Fire
The track «Fire» is taken from the album «Silver Cloud» (1983) — the same album as the original «Noah's Ark». Probably the standard album version.

  • Pilgrimage
Also from the album «Silver Cloud» (1983). Probably the standard album version.

  • Moon—Star
This track first appeared on the «Oasis» album (1979). It's one of Kitaro's early, atmospheric pieces. Probably the standard album version.

  • Dance Of Sand
Taken from the album «Tenku» (1986). Probably the standard album version.

  • Dreamer
Taken from the album «Tenku» (1986). Probably the standard album version.

  • Noah's Ark - Single Mix
Based on the track of the same name from the album «Silver Cloud» (1983). This is the original short version or the slightly longer "Single Mix," as opposed to the extended «Part 1» and «Part 2» versions.

  • Caravan — featuring Richard Page
A vocal version of one of Kitaro's most famous and poignant hits, «Caravansary», from the album «Silk Road, Volume 4», performed by Richard Page.
